LABOUR MP Angela Rayner is backing the campaign to save Ashton pools.
Angela joined dozens of demonstrators outside the pools on Friday to show her support for the campaign.
She said:" I am 100 per cent behind the campaign to save Ashton pools, which are well-used and very popular with local people and their families.
"The pools are in St Peter's ward, which is one of the most deprived areas in the borough.
"Losing this local facility is unthinkable.
"We must do everything we can to keep it open and I will do everything in my power to support the campaign."
After attending the demonstration, Angela met with Tameside Council leader Kieran Quinn to discuss future options for the pools.
She added:"It was a very positive meeting and Kieran is working hard behind the scenes to try and guarantee the future of this facility. I am very hopeful that something can be done to avert closure."
