ANGELA has today become the official Joint Patron of Labour's Mental Health campaign.

Organisers invited Angela to share the official Patron honour with Barrow-in-Furness MP John Woodcock.

Her role will be to work in an advisory role to help steer the future direction of the Labour campaign.

Angela, who has spoken bravely about caring for her mother, has been a passionate supporter of the campaign since it launched in Manchester earlier this year.

She said: "I was really honoured to be asked to serve as Patron, since it is an issue I feel very strongly about.

"Mental health is an issue which affects one-in-four of the population and for too long not enough has been done to ensure that people get the care, support and understanding they need.

"I am delighted to be working with John - we aim to help break down the stigma surrounding mental health and to campaign to ensure that mental health is given high priority within our National Health Service."

"We intend to be a strong voice for mental health, both inside and outside Parliament."
