Labour's Angela Rayner is leading a coach load of supporters to Westminster to demand a pay rise for Ashton people.
Angela, Prospective Parliamentary candidate for Ashton-under-Lyne, is campaigning for action to put more money into ordinary people's pockets, while hitting huge bonuses for the super rich.
She is taking a coach load of local people down to London on Saturday (October 18th) to join the TUC's 'Britain needs a pay rise' march and demonstration to Westminster.
Angela says prices have been rising faster than wages for local people under David Cameron's government.
And she is backing Tameside Council's plan to introduce a living wage of £7.65 an hour for staff and to force contractors with the council to do the same.
Angela said: "Local people are really struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table as wage rates are being driven down because of Tory austerity.
"We are going to Westminster to demand a pay rise for Ashton people. Mean employers are being subsidised by tax payers, through state benefits. They should be paying their way for their staff, not being subsidised by the tax payer.
"It's only by putting money back into people's pockets that we can build a sustainable recovery, with fairer pay for workers and cutting the disgraceful bonuses for the rich, who are being promised more Tory tax cuts.
"A fair deal for workers is the only way to build strong growth in our economy."
