THIS is #CarersWeek - our chance to celebrate and support the work of an unsung army of people who make our community strong.
I was proud to meet carers in Parliament today with @KateOsamor MP - and pay tribute to the two million people who take on new caring responsibilities every year.
They do such important work for families, relatives, friends and neighbours, but we often fail to properly recognise their achievements and their contribution to the health of our communities.
#CarersWeek is the chance for us all to say thank you and to recognise how much they do to help the most vulnerable people.
Our public services are in rapid decline thanks to the Tories austerity programme. Carers ensure that the pain is eased for people who rely on them.
In my constituency, Tameside Carers have a new base at Hyde Town Hall, where they can get the help and support they need.
There's also an information stand at Sainsbury's in Ashton tomorrow and on Friday, carers can get a free assessment of their needs at Hyde Town Hall.
We need to do more to help our carers - visit http://www.carersweek.org/ to find out more.
