I was proud to speak at today's event in Manchester to commemorate International Workers Memorial Day #IWMD
It was an incredibly moving event, with relatives telling of how they lost their loved ones at work and of the failure of the authorities to support their campaigns for justice.
I hope this is an area which a Labour Government will pay much more attention to, if elected on May 7th.
The roll call of the names of those in the North West who have died at work was heartbreaking.
More needs to be done to make work safer - so that workers can come home every night uninjured and secure.
If elected as Labour MP for Ashton-under-Lyne on May 7th, I will work tirelessly to support the work of campaigners for justice - and for a safe and secure environment for all workers.
