BEFORE I caught the train down to Parliament on Monday morning, I paid a visit to Droylsden library to support National Bookstart Week.
It was a really lovely experience to be with mums, their children and great staff in celebrating the importance of reading at an early age.
I had a great time reading 'Rumble in the Jungle' to the little ones and trying my hand, literally, at some puppetry!
It was so much fun - a great antidote to the Westminster bubble!
I am really passionate about literacy and wanted to show my strong support for the work they are doing with young children at the library.
It's incredibly important that we all spend time reading to, and with, our children. Ten minutes every day can make all the difference in their development.
National Bookstart Week helps get children reading from an early age, which opens up a whole new world of possibilities for them. It's a brilliant initiative.
